The Scene
Right next door to their sister restaurant, the owners of Imperial Fez set their sights on an alluring tapas palace with a theatrical vision. Deep red walls, billowing ivory curtains and scattered jeweled pillows play off a Moorish motif in the seductive main room, divided into semiprivate booths and romantic nooks. Enthusiastic servers pace the meal and deftly navigate the center platform where flamenco, salsa and belly dancers take the stage on designated evenings.
The Food
The distinctive tapas menu features a mix of hot and cold plates with Mediterranean influences, not necessarily the traditional tapas of Spain. The delightful baked brie is sprinkled with caviar and white truffle oil. Plump seared scallops are brightened by a saffron cream sauce. Other worthy contenders are the smoky marinated baby lamp chops and roasted garlic asparagus with goat cheese. Relax post-meal on the lively patio with flavored hookahs.
