The Scene
Anchoring one end of a Roswell Road shopping strip, Food 101 marries hearty, homegrown cuisine with black-clad corporate efficiency. Decor similarly merges past and present: The open, window-lined dining room and long, inviting bar gives off a '20s-meets-2000s vibe. The retro-tinged space is filled with buttery leather banquettes and decorated with warm hues and dark woods. Service is confident and friendly.
The Food
Navigate the back-to-basics menu carefully and there's a good meal to be had here. Rich, creamy mashed potatoes and butternut squash soup are stick-to-your-ribs yummy. Warm spinach salad with cornmeal croutons and subtly sweetened pecans strikes a nice balance. Boneless, lightly breaded chicken breasts are tender and juicy. For dessert, go with the delectable homemade ice cream sandwich.
