The Scene
Bone's large red sign has announced its presence at the hectic intersection of Peachtree and Piedmont for close to three decades. Inside, red leather and crisp white linen set the tone in this gentleman's temple complete with a shoeshine stand, autographed celebrity glossies and a serious bar. The decor is straight from the late 1970s, but the expense account crowd doesn't seem to mind. Service is amiable, but can be scatterbrained during peak hours.
The Food
Make no bones about it: this is a first-rate steakhouse, so expect gloriously tender meat, complex in flavor and cooked with reverence. If some side dishes--like frozen-tasting sauteed spinach--seem dull, the gushy grit fritters make up for them. Smoked salmon and a decadent crab and lobster Napoleon are good-for-sharing starters. For dessert, try the gooey pecan pie, or the cheesecake, lightly scented with orange.
