The Scene
An old-world feel pervades every nook and cranny of this cozy trattoria, from the tiny bar to the low-lit main eating area. Cheap reproductions of Italian masterworks hang on the small dining room's dark walls, and an enclosed front deck charms despite its view of Cheshire Bridge. The servers, and many of the diners, appear to have been with the restaurant since its inception in 1968.

The Food
Time-honored Italian standards--at fine dining prices--dominate the menu. Skip the similar-tasting baked stuffed mushrooms and baked clams in favor of the grilled shrimp and baked spinach starter. The lobster fra diavolo stands out as a main course star with its artful combination of spicy tomato sauce and tender lobster tails. The small shell pasta with crab meat, carrots and celery in cream sauce deserves praise for its texture and flavor combination. Keep an eye out for the roving dessert cart of divine homemade pastries.
