The Scene
This barbecue joint draws a steady crowd from all over the metro area. Its colorful cinder-block space features a small, brightly lit dining room bordered by an enclosed patio. Popular with folks from the Cotton Mill Lofts and Grant Park, it also makes a great warm-up spot for a Braves game and features live blues on the weekends. Service is minimal but usually friendly.
The Food
The centerpiece of this classic barbecue restaurant: spare ribs, cut by the half slab or slab, chicken quarters, white or dark, and plates of pulled pork. The sauce, ketchup-based and sweet, owes more to Texas than to Georgia, but it's good all the same. Unusual menu items, like rib tips fried in pastry (''que wraps''), are good for novelty value alone. Standard sides include baked beans, cole slaw, potato salad and mac and cheese, which has a cheesy, junk food appeal.
