The Scene
In burgeoning east Atlanta village, the space that once housed Iris is reborn as a welcoming bistro with blood orange walls, cushioned booths and a bar lounge with a flat-screen TV. Converted garage doors open up to a spacious, breezy patio, where groups like to mingle. Service is generally pleasant, though wait times vary depending on the night.
The Food
Described as eclectic American cuisine, the menu has hints of Asian flair with such ingredients as ahi tuna and baby bok choy. Starters are a must, particularly the perfectly crisp stack of fried green tomatoes and tender braised short ribs with a horseradish mustard dip. Classic standards such as burgers come with the requisite fries and the stuffed shrimp po'boy is dressed with a spicy remoulade. Wrapped in nori seaweed, the miso-sesame seared salmon is delicately seasoned and artistically balanced atop a bed of coconut jasmine rice.
