The Scene
This easygoing cafe puts a cheery face on an otherwise rough strip mall. The dining room divides between two large fluorescent-lit storefronts, and features picnic umbrellas, a formica-sheathed steam table and lots of country goodies, including a rusty band saw and an antique coffee can collection. Service is laid-back and friendly.
The Food
This popular cafeteria-style restaurant features a daily-changing rotation of slightly updated soul food standards. Yeast rolls, cornbread and freshly made desserts supplement the usual country-style meats and vegetables. Typical of any self-respecting soul-food joint, Our Way's veggies generally outshine the meats. Favorites include retro green bean casserole, sweet potato souffle, standout mac and cheese, and fresh blackeyed peas. Be on the lookout for meatloaf and roasted pork, as well.
