The Scene
Enter an elegantly decorated dining room and sit beneath walls covered with paintings of elephants and ceremonial cloths draped from the ceiling. The restaurant is nearly always busy, especially with regulars picking up their takeout orders. Servers take good care of a clientele that consists primarily of families from nearby neighborhoods and hungry Emory students.
The Food
A collection of Thai's greatest hits, most dishes are crowd pleasers. Tom kha kai, coconut soup dominated by chili and lime, is creamier than it is sharp. Start with fresh basil rolls wrapped in rice paper or nam-sod, a heady combination of minced pork, peanut and ginger. Dishes marked as spicy on the menu--green curry salmon, for example, have an appealing depth of flavor, not just a one-note hotness. Green tea, coconut and ginger ice cream in raspberry sauce make for a refreshing finish.
