The Scene
This casual restaurant occupies the corner of a fading shopping center diagonal to North Dekalb Mall. The dining room's down-home look, leftover from its previous incarnation as a Folks restaurant, gives the space a slightly surreal edge. But the largely Indian clientele is an endorsement of the authentic cuisine awaiting adventurous eaters. Catching the attention of distracted servers can be tough at times.
The Food
You won't find a better South Indian vegetarian restaurant in Atlanta. First timers should try the bhel puri, a sweet and sour, crunchy and juicy Indian snack mix, and a masala dosai, a huge crepe stuffed with spiced potatoes. Other treats include the eggless tomato ''omelet,'' vegetable avial with yogurt and coconut, and tamarind rice. Unless you're a devotee of this cuisine, skip the spongy fried appetizer pastries called idly and vadai. Shrikand, a thick yogurt dessert with pistachios and cardamom, is a light but satisfyingly sweet conclusion.
