The Scene
The boutique tacos known by name across Atlanta now inhabit an abandoned Decatur service station. This location has the same urban look as the original: stainless steel tabletops, exposed ductwork and gleaming garage doors. Wooden bowls of oranges, beachy-looking azure cinder block and jewel-tone tequilas add a California feel. Sit in the narrow, space-age breezeway for more airy, semi-outdoor dining. You can expect more families--and the same patient, expectant line--at this address.
The Food
Authentic Mexican flavors abound. Opt for popular hickory-smoked pork tacos with barbecue sauce and coleslaw, or addictive fried chicken tacos with lime-jalapeno mayonnaise. Also, try straight-up carnita-style pork with salsa frita, or roasted brisket laced with tangy chile de arbol. Enchiladas are solid cantina fare. Don't miss a side of nicely spicy turnip greens or rich, smoky charros beans. The fresh salsa trio goes hand-in-hand with tequila-heavy margaritas.
