The Scene
Eurasia is smashing by night--seductive and sophisticated with gossamer curtains, expensive lighting, soft muted colors, exposed brick walls and sensuous black and white flower photography. Soft jazz plays in the background, while a handsome bar invites pre-dinner drinks. Service is genial, but scattered: You may stare at gorgeous, empty plates far too long.
The Food
Artistically plated, creative specialties give an upscale nod to Southeast Asia. The black plate--a sampling of five appetizers--properly introduces the seafood-heavy menu. Minced chicken salad is tongue-tingling thanks for kaffir lime, ginger and scallions. Terrific filet mignon in an Indonesian curry sauce sits atop a plump noodle cake. Rice-battered sea scallops in a garlic peppercorn sauce are fat beauties that melt in your mouth. If you have room, the mango ice cream is a pleasing finish.
