The Scene
The white curtains match the tablecloths in this relatively low-key, traditional restaurant. The now-trendy open kitchen is festooned with hanging pans and stacked plates. But the dining room has an old-fashioned, faintly clubby feeling, the air filled with murmuring voices and smooth jazz. Service is brisk but not exactly personal.

The Food
Food literally blooms on the plate here--dishes are garnished with big bursting purple orchids and blossoms. An appetizer of five-spice sea scallops and braised beef Napoleon is achingly tender and infinitely rich, if a trifle salty. Another daring combination, grilled sea bass and foie gras, is even richer, almost to the point of being oily. Macadamia-crusted mahi mahi, balances fresh, clean seafood flavor with the nutty taste of its crunchy topping. The pecan pie boasts a layer of rich chocolate.

Closed for remodeling until fall.
