The Scene
You hardly need the waterfront mural on the wall to remind you that you're just blocks away from the beach at this bustling establishment. At any of the Gene's around town, the atmosphere is as casual as it comes with quick and friendly service. You can't beat the reasonable prices, either.
The Food
Portions are generous, but if you have a big appetite, try one of the hearty appetizers, like fabulous batter-fried shrimp or the chunky and flavorful gumbo. Grilled favorites like tuna steaks and swordfish are tender and moist, not dry at all. Flounder stuffed with crabmeat has just the right amount of seasoning. Side dishes like baked potatoes, French fries and coleslaw are ordinary but perfect mates for the stellar seafood. The Southern-style hush puppies are not to be missed.
