The Scene
This restaurant might have the markings of a national chain, but it's actually a popular, one-of-a-kind local destination. The Rocky Mountain-themed decor and menu have been continually updated for a loyal clientele. The mountain lodge-style dining area and bar are separate. Service is attentive and infused with friendly safety reminders, since much of the self-cooking takes place on a sizzling-hot slab of granite.
The Food
Choose cheese combinations for the fondue appetizer, large enough for two people. The aged cheddar and Swiss Emmenthaler, melted in a seasoned beer base and served with assorted breads, veggies, grapes and apple chunks, are outstanding. Sizzle entrees of marinated chicken breast slices and large cubes of filet mignon on the hot rock to personal taste. Dessert is a platter of assorted cake cubes, fresh strawberries, apples and marshmallows dipped in melted Kahlua milk chocolate with crushed macadamia nuts.
