The Scene
The restaurant's name comes from salt rock, a native material found among Florida's freshwater springs and used liberally in the restaurant's cream-colored decor. The pretty marble-like rock, polished to a mirror finish, is accented by deep mahogany woodwork and furnishings. Imposing nearly floor-to-ceiling windows create an elegant backdrop. From the mobbed parking lot and jammed tables, one might conclude that beachgoers have been sorely deprived of a restaurant that revels in formality.
The Food
Start with an appetizer of jumbo coconut-crusted shrimp--bluewater shrimp rolled in coconut and topped with orange-ginger sauce. The seafood is fresh and plentiful, but don't miss the crusted seven-bone rack of lamb marinated in basil, chervil and garlic and served with fresh mint sauce. For dessert, it would be hard to find a better chocolate torte topped with raspberry sauce.
