The Scene:
Seems like whenever you go to the Arch Street, a band's either settin' up or tearin' down equipment. This is one of the oldest rock and blues clubs in the city, and as such, the place has served as an incubator for many of Hartford's established musicians. It's not uncommon for those music scene veterans to drop in and offer support to the new generation of bands. The club offers all manner of music; there's even a big band swing night every week. When the Tavern serves lunch and dinner during the week, the business crowd packs in tightly along the length of the sprawling one-piece bar, which makes every other bar in the city look like your mother's kitchen table. When the music starts, the joint turns into a giant party for the twenty- and thirtysomething set.
Must-Have Drinks:
Anchor Steam, Sierra Nevada Pale Ale.
