The Scene
Don't expect too much flash or flair here. This Max (one of four) is a family-friendly, casual spot with upscale food. The spacious dining room is divided by a bar area that's heavily populated with the after-work crowd. It can get noisy during peak hours, but the food is worth the trouble.

The Food
Dig into the complimentary herb-crusted bread with soft-roasted garlic while you decide on a main course. Stone pies (pizzas) come with everything from goat cheese and prosciutto di Parma to broccoli rabe and fennel sausage. Risotto with duck confit and dried cherries, gnocchi in a fresh English pea sauce and veal with Madeira wine sauce are just a few of the nonpizza entrees. Whatever your main course, a bowl of gelato will end the meal on a sweet note.
