The Scene
This one-room, seat-yourself eatery offers a lively, convivial atmosphere. Sociable servers hustle from the service counter, backed by a wood-burning oven, delivering pies to families and small groups. Standard wooden tables and chairs and walls in muted earth tones mean colorful paintings from local artists steal the decor show.
The Food
Flatbreads, salads and sides make up an inspired, approachable menu. Prices may be a bit higher than your usual pizza joint, but it's worth it for quality, organic ingredients from local food purveyors. The ''Antonioni's'' flatbread, boasting all-natural pepperoni paired with roasted Anaheim and poblano peppers, will appeal to pizza purists while ''The Shhh!,'' topped with chopped littleneck clams sauteed with garlic and shallots in sauvignon blanc, lures more sophisticated palates. Salad selections cover the basics, but save room for desserts: The chocolate cake with a molten center and seasonal fruit crisp with gelato make for especially sweet endings.
