In Short
The contrast is startling: Walk into a nondescript office building, and suddenly you're in a room reminiscent of a medieval cellar, replete with stone accents and yes, a fireplace. Chef Michael McDonald made his reputation at Hollywood's Dakota Steakhouse, and his creative flair and passion for quality ingredients is in full force at this South Bay eatery. Standout dishes include Belgian-style mussels, Kurobuta pork chops, and anything that used to go moo. The wine list is encyclopedic, with prestigious producers and exotic bottles, and the desserts come from the restaurant's very own pastry chef. Service is erratic--sometimes slow, another time intrusively attentive--but overall this is a fine establishment.
