In Short
If it weren't for the crowd lined up in front every weekend, folks might miss this bite-size diner. Sandwiched between another popular breakfast spot and a nondescript jewelry store, this World War II-era diner is a favorite port for those avoiding Santa Monica's trendier districts, either farther west on the Promenade, or north on Montana. The interior is a throwback to middle America (as is the consisently friendly service) with stools at the counter and vintage booths where young parents let the kids color while waiting for affordable delights like create-it-yourself omelettes, blueberry pancakes and fluffy-yet-crispy home fries. For lunch, the Zwiebel burger and Cajun chicken sandwich come with yam fries, and there are always plenty of daily blackboard specials to curb just about any craving.
