The Scene
With its casually elegant, amber-lit dining room, this Lantana media center-stationed eatery has become a popular spot for low-key business lunches. Especially coveted are seats in the sheltered garden patio, its high walls and canopy draped with vines and hanging green plants. During the day, tables are packed with behind-the-scenes celebrity-makers and production-studio staffers; dinner crowds lean toward laid-back locals.
The Food
Drawing inspiration from French and Pan-Asian cuisines, the kitchen serves American fare with a SoCal twist. A heaping mound of lightly fried shrimp comes kissed with sweet Thai hoisin sauce; Mongolian salad with fried noodles and shredded chicken is tossed in tangy honey-mustard dressing. Gourmet sandwiches include French ham-and-cheese baguettes, cheddar and guacamole on toasted rye, and organic tofu burgers. The juicy grilled lemon chicken with fluffy corn fritters is a menu highlight, as is tender roasted rack of lamb. Among artistic desserts are a raspberry souffle and the steaming dark chocolate-pecan cake.
