In Short
An eclectic crowd of industry players and fashion-wise Westsiders check one another out in the mirrors mounted in the hotel lobby and dining room. Hollywood Regency design imbues the dining room with both traditional elegance and '70s kitsch. Delicate English china run along the green walls and out to the patio where they climb the exterior. Make reservations well in advance to enjoy patio seating or swanky private cabanas. For such hip ambience, it's a pleasant surprise that the menu, which features skilled takes on New American cuisine--is given just as much attention. Expect fare like lump crab fritters, whole roasted loup de mer and braised beef short ribs served with potato puree, celery leaves and horseradish. For dessert, bread pudding, creme brulee and cheesecake demonstrate that the standards for sweets are equally exacting.
