Rather large portions of mediocre to good spaghetti. Salads are kind of small and overdressed. OK selection of wines by the glass. Also, they don't quote...read more

The Scene
The space is spare-blondwood floors, pale gold walls, white linens, a smattering of artwork--very conducive to convivial conversation and post-prandial lingering.
The Food
Crusty Italian bread comes with butter, not oil, and the Caesar salad is more than servicable. A special tomato and mozzarella salad brought thick rounds of yellow and red tomato, soft fresh mozzarella (unsalted, it was slightly bland) and a chiffonade of basil. Pastas make up a fair chunk of the menu, from spaghetti puttanesca, to smoked chicken linguine redolent of smoky meat countered by sauteed shallots and leeks sparked by Madeira. Only a seafood risotto failed to please-fat prawns and scallops peeked out from a pile of slightly mushy and bland arborio. Cafe Torre also offers more than 20 wines by the glass, as well as a tasting sampler of three 2-ounce pours of ''house selected'' wines.
