The Scene
This popular spot successfully creates a scene one might find at a rustic Mediterranean country inn, with fresh flowers and handmade pottery--a perfect setting for special-occasion dining. Exposed beams run across the ceiling; windows overlook busy Emerson Street. The dimly lit space is intimate and romantic, although usually buzzing with noise. On cool nights, diners stay warm in front of a large fireplace.

The Food
The menu balances Old-World traditions with modern flair. Start with grape leaves stuffed with beef and rice and flavored with mint and egg-lemon sauce or crispy calamari. Satisfying main courses include decadent moussaka, a baked casserole with eggplant, potatoes and lamb ragout, and the ravioli, four fluffy pillows stuffed with a rich zucchini-feta blend. Souvlaki is another reliable choice, with mesquite-grilled beef, mushrooms and onions served over wild pilaf rice. The wondrous sokolatina, a small chocolate cake shell containing warm, gooey chocolate, is the perfect finale.
