The Scene
The 154-year-old Victorian house reflects downtown Saratoga's affluent atmosphere. A freestanding gas fireplace stove in the front dining room is a reminder of the building's history. An outdoor patio and three indoor dining rooms decorated with simple, European country artwork provide plenty of seating. Fresh wildflowers in silver cups on crisp, white linens add elegance to each table. Attentive staff wear earpieces for constant communication with the kitchen.
The Food
A savory starter is the quail in puff pastry, with the unusual addition of a slice of black truffle ice cream. The heirloom tomato salad with creamy Buffalo mozzarella comes with a surprisingly refreshing tomato sorbet. Skip the somewhat dry sea bass and opt for the tender New Zealand rack of lamb. It's smothered in a wonderfully rich wine sauce and served alongside lightly breaded eggplant and potato slices. The chocolate fondant cake's crusty shell and warm fudge interior will satisfy most chocoholics.
