The Scene
On a busy lower-Polk corner, this hideaway restaurant sports large windows that look onto the street below. Clubby contemporary furnishings, like mid-'80s plastic wave-back chairs and Kartell colored light fixtures, are mixed with cross-cultural pieces such as Asian stools and sisal-covered banquettes with silk shantung pillows. TV screens dominate most of the space, adding an incongruous sports bar vibe.
The Food
The menu offers an impressive variety of both traditional and experimental Thai dishes. Ingredients are fresh, portions are generous, and many feature nice compositions. A standout included a salad topped with a layer of crispy catfish that's shredded then fried, served with cashews, sliced apple and a kicky dressing. Deep-fried pork spareribs are succulent, and the ''Spicy Dice'' is a savory dish of salmon, coconut milk, curry and crispy bits of fried basil.
