A quiet sushi joint in the Inner Sunset where creative rolls and fresh nigiri are accompanied smooth jazz.

When Inner Sunset sushi hot spots like Ebisu and Koo are packed, head over to this slightly more subdued option on Irving Street between Ninth and 10th avenues. The restaurant is small (there's only a handful of four-top tables and room for about seven stools at the short sushi bar) but cozy, with art covering the walls and screens seperating the dining room. All the standard sushi fare turns up on the menu--plenty of toro (fatty tuna), sake (salmon) and ebi (cooked prawn)--but Japanese expats and true raw fish fans will appreciate the rarities: anago (salt-water eel), amaebi (sweet shrimp) and hokki (surf clam), plus nearly 20 different rolls and a laundry list of appetizers that go beyond the usual edamame and tempura, even if they have those, too.
