In the heart of Union Square, this old-fashioned diner is a mecca for tourists seeking authentic San Francisco flavor; even locals admit this is the real deal.
The Scene The staff members are old hands at diner-style service--friendly, humorous and speedy. Grab a seat at one of the cushy booths or counter seats and before you know it, you'll be in diner heaven.
The Food As the sign outside advertises, this diner is famous for its pancakes, all 18 varieties: light and tender golden rounds heaped with plenty of whipped butter and a choice of blackberry, loganberry, boysenberry or good old-fashioned maple syrup. Other treats include sourdough French toast served with Sears' rightfully famous strawberry preserves, plus a plethora of egg dishes. Although lunch is served, breakfast has been Sears' specialty for over 90 years.
