The Scene
Don't even bother visiting Rick's Dessert Diner unless you've whipped yourself up into the right frame of mind. Anyone who frets about calories should stay away so as not to spoil the experience for the sugar gluttons. Rick's sells desserts--and that's it.
The Food
The cakes are so tall they'll make you laugh; it's hard to believe that they can stand up by themselves. It's hard to choose between creamy tiramisu, Oreo cheesecake and the selection of towering cakes (there are usually about 16 in the case), including the divinely chocolate devil's food. If you're a carrot cake lover, you've got to sample Rick's version. Moist, toothsome and subtly spicy, this giant is loaded with carrots, pineapple chunks, coconut and slathered with a dreamy cream cheese icing.
