The Scene
If you're grumpy and need a lift, visit Ernesto's. The booths are comfortable, the service is some of the best in Sacramento, and the warm chips, delivered as soon as you sit down, are muy bien. The interior is Acapulco meets art deco, and loud salsa music reverberates off the walls in this family-friendly climate.

The Food
The usual authentic Mexican fare--carnitas, burritos, fajitas, tacos--done with a healthy, refreshing flair. If you're into spicy food, check out the tender, hot pork chile verde, a house specialty that's sauteed with green tomatillos, chiles, onions and fresh cilantro. Vegetarians will have a field day with the Navajo Bonanza Burrito, groaning with mushrooms, zucchini, corn and carrots, and a special spicy-citrus chile sauce.
