The Scene
Tucked away in a funky strip mall, Kaveri offers some of the finest Indian cuisine in Sacramento. The décor is nothing special: glass-topped tables and a bit of art. Indian music plays softly in the background.
The Food
Whether you choose the lunch buffet, a sampler plate or an entrée, the food is delivered hot and delicious. The curry, tandoori and madras dishes are familiar to fans of Indian, but Kaveri puts a Southern Indian spin on its recipes.
What to Order
If this is your first foray, definitely go for the inexpensive buffet lunch. Choose from dozens of dishes, each explained by a note taped to the sneeze guard. Don't miss the saag (spinach) and lentil soup. Use the fluffy, tortilla-ish nan bread to soak up sauces from jars on your table. Order mango chutney as a counteragent to spicy dishes.
