The Scene
Derek Dickenson, the dapper owner of this leafy and tranquil bistro, may not know every customer who comes through his portal, but he treats them as if he does. Derek's draws a well-heeled crowd of diners who expect to be cosseted. The two palmy, glass-enclosed dining rooms adorned with pastoral art create a warm, romantic setting. Waiters are earnest and ceremonial.

The Food
The chef turns out lusty American fare with French and Italian accents. His best efforts include appetizers like smoked Chinese-style duck salad with tart cranberries and roasted almonds, seared ahi tuna with truffled mashed potatoes, and roasted quail. For main courses, you can't go wrong with the rack of lamb bordelaise, or the zesty achiote-spiced pork tenderloin with caramelized apples. Lumber toward the finish line with a lovely warm brioche bread pudding or a decadent dark chocolate torte.
