The Scene
Swooning couples, post-golf groups and locals primed to celebrate fill the airy, eclectic dining room, made cozy with warm-colored carpet, a roaring fireplace and a choice of banquette seating. Floor-to-ceiling windows boast views of the ocean and the surrounding Batiquitos Lagoon, which can be enjoyed further on the slick, white-stone patio. Service is top-notch--knowledgeable and unintrusive. A rotational, four-course tasting menu is offered daily--with or without paired wines. Antipasti highlights include seared Sonoma foie gras and polenta dusted turbot with pickled ramps, wild arugula and salsa gribiche. Pasta and risotto dishes--such as handmade orecchiette with braised capon, favas and Tuscan pecorino or carnaroli risotto with Maine lobster and basil--can be ordered in half portions for smaller appetites or for mixing.
