In Short
In an attempt to re-create the pizzas he grew up eating, East Coast transplant Joe D'Amore established this local chain of restaurants in 1972. Today, well-heeled diners scarf down casual Italian classics such as baked ziti, eggplant parmigiana and signature thin-crust pizzas. Pies are sculpted with cornmeal dough, olive oil and ''special'' water shipped in from Massachusetts. Popular orders include the tomato sauce-free Pizza Bianco, grilled vegetable pizza and the substantial Meat Lover's Special.
