The Scene
There's no sign, but the smoke billowing out of a tiny strip mall in Leimert Park Village and a crowd of hungry people milling around in the parking lot make this hole-in-the-wall take-out-only joint easy to spot.
The Food
The lean, meaty ribs, savory sliced beef and crisp-skinned links are all reasons why legions swear by this barbecue. Even the most know-it-all barbecue aficionados will swoon over the tenderness of the pork ribs. Tangy marinade, perfectly timed smoking and sauce singing with vinegar, sugar and a varying degrees of heat prove that Memphis and Kansas City ain't got nothing on L.A. Potato and macaroni salads are made with homemade mayo and a touch of sweet pickle relish. Velvety 7-Up cake, nutmeg-tinged peach cobbler and buttery-crusted pecan pie finish things right.
