The guys behind Dominick's and the 101 Coffee Shop have brought gussied-up Italian-American dishes to the longtime Belle Epoque space. Although the food is different, the colorful crowd is much the same: Handsome guys straight off the pages of GQ; aging, cape-clad goths in bowler hats and artsy 30-something marketing mavens. The space itself is parlor-esque, with a restored antique wood bar that gleams beneath vintage stained-glass windows and warm red leather booths. The menu incorporates seasonal, local produce in classic favorites like fried artichokes with shrimp and Neapolitan wood-fire pizza, plus inventive additions such as expertly cooked blue nose bass and Parmesan-y chickpea fries.
