Great Bolognese. Pretty decent atmosphere too although the piped jazz starts to wear thin after 15 mins! Feels like it's more of an evening place but that's...read more

Nestled in an old house, sweeping front porch and all, this comfortable neighborhood nook was actually once called The House, when it was run by Chef Scooter Kanfer. In 2007, a pair of longtime friends took over the space, kept the name from the prior owners (which might have been a slight misstep, since it was widely panned under their reign) and created a workable restaurant concept. The menu is solid. Not every dish is a hit (the chicken panini and turkey sandwich are basic middle-of-the-road menu items), but the classic Italian panini offers cold cuts with just enough kick and hot peppers to top it off. A perfectly pan-roasted trout bathes in citrusy lemon caper sauce, complemented by fresh vegetables. The velvety Velveeta-blended mac and cheese is not to be missed--order it as an appetizer to share.
