The Scene
Polynesia meets California posh, with hula grass and men's Hawaiian shirts. But an illuminated marble wall valued at $200,000 proves this place has class.
The Food
Latin, Asian and American cuisine may seem like strange bedfellows, but under this roof, it's called ''beach cuisine.'' Start with a lightly fried quesadilla oozing with melted Brie and sliced grapes, but skip the guacamole garnish, which overwhelms the otherwise delicate flavor. Pressed Cuban sandwiches go California: chunks of grilled chicken--traditional Cuban sandwiches use pulled pork--and melted jack cheese squeezed between slices of French bread. Like spice? Asian-style fish comes with wasabi mashed potatoes, and fiery chili spuds saddle up to the teriyaki steak. Despite the eclectic menu, the sushi is surprisingly good--requisite California rolls are updated with a sprig of asparagus and wrapped in shrimp.
