Now that the Los Feliz vanguard is aging, they need an upscale dining destination that won't break the bank. Hushed and quiet, vaulted ceilings, soaring columns and a huge picture window announce that this white-tablecloth restaurant is a destination for serious food (even though the kitchen doesn't necessarily deliver on that idea). The menu features contemporary American favorites like pepper steak with sauteed onions, ''Michael's salad'' with greens, bacon, and a soft poached egg. Adjacent to the restaurant is the cool minimalist bar serving up cocktails till 1am every night for the hip Eastside crowd.
