In Short
At night, the lofty space is an intimate, bohemian den with crimson-colored walls and candles on every dark-wood table. But heavy gold curtains and kitschy crystal chandeliers hanging from the rafters create a dramatic effect even in daylight. Helpful, unpretentious servers keep the Bay Area vibe alive while the menu spotlights simply prepared comfort cuisine with a creative edge. Smooth goat-cheese fondue with grilled bread and crisp green apples for dipping is wildly popular. A light, lemony vinaigrette spruces up the sweet and savory salad of spinach, dried currants and feta. For entrees, a crispy-fried pork cutlet stuffed with Gruyere cheese is satisfying and hearty, sided by a mound of mashed potatoes. The lighter fontina ravioli swims in a buttery sauce touched with truffle oil. Make-your-own s'mores, constructed out of homemade graham crackers, molten bittersweet chocolate and marshmallow, are a playful and satisfying way to end the meal.
