Despite a remodeling, Joe's bright, minimalist quarters can still seem cramped. The hallway-dining-room is the place to watch the kitchen work its magic. For a more romantic tête-a-tête, sit on the back patio. If you usually can't afford a gourmet dinner, come to Joe's and order prix fixe. Using farm-fresh ingredients, chef/owner Joe Miller's four-course dinners are both enticing and affordable. Comforting mainstays range from medallions of veal and roast beef to pork loin served perched atop garlic mashed potatoes and wild mushrooms. Miller also pulls out all the stops for brunch, with dishes like blue crab hash, brioche French toast and salmon-and-chili huevos rancheros topping the list.
